Performance of Conventional and Innovative Single U-Tube Pipe Configuration in Vertical Ground Heat Exchanger (VGHE)

A ground source heat pump system (GSHP) with a exchanger (GHE) is renewable and green technology used for heating cooling residential commercial buildings. An innovative U-Tube pipe configuration suggested to enhance the transfer rate in vertical (VGHE). Laboratory experiments are conducted compare thermal efficiency of VGHEs two different configurations: (1) an (single outer fins) (2) single U-Tube. The results show that difference between inlet outlet temperatures was 0.7 °C after 60 h, while it 0.4 same amount time. borehole resistance 0.680 m·K/W, which 29.22% lower than exchange increased by 57.95% compared conventional Measured indicate configuration, has superior performance. Based on experimental presented this paper, concluded increasing surface area significantly introducing external fins enhances rate, resulting VGHE.
